CAD-CAM Technology There are numerous advantages to CAD CAM technology that facilitate the work of our dentists who are meeting with increasing esthetic demands from our patients every day. The patient’s wishes are very clear: As few visits as possible and top-quality work that meets all the esthetic and functional aspects. WHAT IS CAD-CAM TECHNOLOGY? Thanks to the use of CAD-CAM technology, we can make new teeth in just one visit! CAD-CAM is the abbreviation of the English term computer-aided design / computer-aided manufacturing. The CAD-CAM technology has been used in space technology, shipbuilding, automobile, and aircraft industry for decades. Verify our expertise For many years, our patients have recognised our quality and they have included our doctors among the best dentists and oral surgeons in Croatia in the last several years. Teeth in a single day 4 5 01Teeth scanning 02Computer design 03Choosing the materials 04Making a prosthetic implant 05Permanent cementing A dental medicine doctor will take a digital imprint of the teeth which is sent to the laboratory digitally, or an already scanned dental imprint will be scanned using a scanner and converted to digital form. The digital model of the tooth has been transferred to the teeth design program and now the dental technician-designer will precisely design the teeth according to all the parameters to meet the perfect function and esthetics of the teeth. If the “virtual tooth” meets all the esthetic and functional criteria, it is followed by the selection of the materials considering the color, hardness, and transparency for making a dental veneer, crown, or bridge. After the teeth are ready for construction, the computer will send the parameters to the milling system so the teeth would be made in the shape, size and according to the exact bite and chewing motion parameters. If the patient is satisfied, the next step is the permanent cementing stage, which completes the CAD-CAM procedure for making prosthetic implants. WHY WE USE CAD-CAM TECHNOLOGY? CAD-CAM technology helps us create the most precise prosthetic implants (inlay, onlay, dental crowns, dental bridges) of prefect anatomical shape, size, and esthetics. We use it most in prosthetics, even though the use of CAD-CAM technology is unavoidable in other areas of dental medicine. The advantages of CAD-CAM technology Dental veneers, crowns, and bridges made in our laboratory, which is equipped with CAD-CAM technology, guarantee extreme precision and esthetics that meet the highest criteria. The advantages of using CAD-CAM technology are multiple: it is not necessary to take dental imprints there is no need to make temporary teeth only one visit to the dentist is required and the patient can get new teeth in just one visit the construction process is simplified high precision and esthetic perfection Which materials are used in CAD-CAM technology? The material used in CAD-CAM technology is zirconium which replaces metal, i.e. metal constructions (gold, titanium, and other alloys). Zirconium is a firm material with stable dimensions and it is biocompatible, it is also easy to shape and it meets the highest esthetic and functional standards. Every day, the amount of available materials used in dental CAD-CAM technology is increasing (zirconium, leucite ceramics, lithium, disilicate ceramics, nano-hybrid ceramics, etc.), and that enables the creation of unique implants with perfect natural properties, color, and transparency. This is the way to satisfy the expectations of even our most demanding patients.
