WHY SHOULD YOU DECIDE TO HAVE DENTAL IMPLANT PLACEMENT?
Losing teeth is not only an aesthetic dentistry problem, but also a much larger health problem. When someone loses teeth, they also lose soft tissue and jaw bone, and long term toothlessness can lead to various complications and ailments. It causes excessive stress on the remaining teeth, there is uneven transfer of the masticatory force, and there is even a possibility of headaches and jaw pain. Implant placement is a solution for all the mentioned ailments and the dental work will not damage the surrounding teeth. With proper care and oral hygiene, dental implants are a permanent solution.
What is the price of dental implant?
Dental implants are a permanent fixed solution for problems of one or more missing teeth, but also for a toothless jaw.
Regardless of the health of your teeth, it is important to visit a dentist and speak to professionals like our team of experts at the Štimac Dental Clinic, because there is always a solution. Consultations and a detailed examination will determine the exact condition of your teeth and an optimal solution will be reached, regardless if you have one tooth, two teeth, or all of the teeth in one of the jaws missing.
After dental implant placement, the person will have all of their oral functions restored, and considering they behave like natural teeth, the implants require the same level of maintenance. Proper and regular oral hygiene, as well as regular dentist check-ups, must not be ignored.
Missing teeth have a negative impact on the appearance, but also on the entire psychological and physical condition of a person. Dental implants can also help with the facial structure, mostly cheeks and mouth, and they provide a more youthful appearance. The effect that dental implant placement can have on the confidence of an individual is visible once a person sees themselves with new teeth for the first time
When talking about fixed options, we mean implant solutions ALL-ON-FOUR – a prosthetic device on four implants and ALL-ON-SIX – a prosthetic structure on 6 implants. The choice of options depends on the condition of the bone that the oral surgeon evaluates using 3D diagnostics
Semi-fixed options include the placement of 2 or 4 implants in one jaw, a bridge on those 2 or 4 implants, and a prosthesis in the back region.
This means that a dental bridge with 4 or 6 members (ceramic dental crowns) is placed on those 2 or 4 placed implants, with the addition of a wironit prosthesis in the back region. The Wironit prosthesis is made of metal and it is a solid prosthetic device, it does not fall out because it is supported by the existing bridge on the implants and it does not have a palatal part, which is the most common reason why people have trouble with a full prosthesis.
This very short and simple dental implant placement procedure is followed by the so-called osseointegration process, i.e. the period in which the dental implants connect with the jaw bone and which can last from 2 to 4 months, depending on the jaw in question.
Then, after the period of gum healing and forming, the agreed upon prosthetic structure is placed (ceramic crown or bridge), which completes the final functional and aesthetic solution.
After dental implant placement, your smile will shine again, you will no longer have to hide your teeth or suffer various uncomfortable dental prosthetics and other temporary solutions. Forget about the difficulties when eating or unclear speech and greet the new dose of confidence that comes with dental implant placement and new teeth!
In order for the recovery process after the dental work and the connection of the implant with the jaw bone to go as successful as possible, good and regular oral hygiene is very important, the recommended procedure is to brush your teeth with a soft toothbrush.
AM I A CANDIDATE FOR DENTAL IMPLANT PLACEMENT?
An ideal candidate for dental implant placement is a person with one or more teeth missing, but a person who is completely toothless.
If you are experiencing problems with eating, if your speech is unclear, or you are constantly hiding your smile because your teeth are missing and that affects your confidence, implants are the best solution for you.
What if the bone is not good enough for dental implant placement?
The cause for bone deficiency can be the physiological bone resorption after years of missing teeth, periodontal disease, or pathological causes like cysts and granulomas. Dental implant placement is possible even in some cases of bone deficiency, depending on the resorption level, in that case we would suggest several solutions:
The PRF protocol is the latest tissue augmentation technique that increases tissue regeneration using a membrane derived from the patient’s blood, or more accurately plasma. The PRF technique is used for a quicker, simpler, and safer outcome of implant placement, in cases of bone deficiencies and for many other dental surgery procedures. This method enables much quicker healing of soft tissue and the recovery period after the dental surgery procedure is much faster. For the patients, this technique is a very good guarantee for integrating implants with the bone after implant placement procedures.
The upper jaw is often affected by the problem of increased bone retraction, in the process of falling out or pulling teeth. Another common problem in the upper jaw is lowered sinus, which must be lifted before the dental implant placement procedure. In that case, there is the option of a so-called sinus lift (lifting the sinus), where the surgeon lifts the sinus and immediately implants artificial bone, thereby performing bone augmentation in order to reach the appropriate bone height, thickness, and firmness required for implant placement. In order to improve the procedure itself, often the PRF protocol will also be performed using the blood plasma of the person, in order for the newly formed membrane to improve the connection between the artificial bone and the patient’s bone. It is possible to perform implant placement at the same time as the sinus lift, but that also depends on the thickness of the remaining bone and the estimate of the oral surgeon.
Artificial bone implantation is a surgical procedure that includes the application of the granulated material and the membrane in the area with missing teeth. Artificial bone implantation prolongs the entire dental implant placement procedure for approximately 8-12 months, because the artificial bone must be fixed before the dental implant placement procedure, so it would make a suitable base for the integration of the implant with the bone.
Dental implant placement warranty
The warranty on the construction of the prosthetic replacement (abutment, crown) that is installed on the implant is 3 years. Possible breakage of ceramic or acrylate parts of prosthetic work is covered by a 3-year warranty. After surgical implant placement, all patients receive an ‘implant booklet’ from us that contains the date of the implant procedure, the manufacturer, the serial number of the dental implant and the position of the implant as a guarantee of originality and quality. The ‘implant booklet’, or as we often call it, the ‘passport’, serves patients as an assurance of the authenticity of the implant and the possibility to upgrade the implant anywhere in the world.
